Dr James McDaid was educated at Currin N.S., Termon, St Eunan’s College, Letterkenny, and University College Galway.
Dr McDaid was elected as TD for Donegal North East at the first attempt in 1989, and has been succesfully re-elected at every election since. He server as Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation from 1997 to 2002, and as a Minister of State from 2002 to 2004.
Dr McDaid is a General Practitioner working in Letterkenny.
